Affirming Breath

Benefits

Set the stage for success by breathing in an affirming word or phrase. Practicing this everyday or throughout the day can help our minds affirm the positive. 

Practice

To start, choose a word or phrase that embodies the way you would like to feel. For example, “I am calm and confident”  or “I am successful.” If you’d prefer a word you can choose the word calm or successful. As you breathe in, turn the phrase into the statement: “I breathe in calm and confidence” or “I breathe in calm.” As you exhale, repeat, the phrase: “I breathe out stress and tension.” You can also replace this phrase with a negative belief such as, “I breathe out fear of failure”.

Example:

Inhale, “I breathe in calm and confidence”.
Exhale, “I breathe out stress and tension.”
